Dallas Maids Cleaning Homes of First Responders for Free

Dallas Maids has been a fixture of the cleaning service industry for 16 years, but the shelter-in-place order has taken a severe toll on the business. Although residential cleaning services were categorized as essential, Greg Shepard, owner of the company, understood that many of his regulars would have to take a step back.

Despite cancellations rolling in "like an avalanche," he and his team of cleaners were touched when customers insisted on paying or keeping their cleaning services; everyone tipped generously.

"[Customers have] shown that the worst of times brings out the best in people," said Shepard. "I want to pay this generosity forward by providing our local area first responders with free home cleanings [to lessen] their stress."

The First Responders Fatigue Relief Fund provided by Dallas Maids offers complimentary home cleaning services for first responders on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company's professional cleaners will continue to receive their regular pay rates, thanks to the fund. Anyone can donate, including non-customers.

Shepard believes that a clean home is helpful in alleviating the physical and mental stresses of life under COVID-19.

"[We're thankful] for the work they are doing to keep us safe during the coronavirus pandemic," he said. “Thank you for your service and for giving us a chance to serve you!"
