Demi Lovato Releases Heartfelt New Music Video for "I Love Me"

Demi Lovato has led a rollercoaster of a life, and she looked back on these memories before her upcoming album which has not yet been named. The song reflects on Demi pushing past all the things that have given her a negative self-image over the years, from tabloids and paparazzi to critics and trolls. At the end of it all though, Demi remembers that she's not one to be messed with.

The video has a lot of references to past Demi, like two little girls on the street who are meant to represent Demi and her sister growing up in Dallas. As Demi continues down the street, viewers can see her (or an actress who looks like her at age 15) singing into a microphone with a curly-haired boy on guitar. This is a clear reference to her breakout role in Camp Rock on Disney channel. We also see a group of boys who look suspiciously like the Jo-Bros.

The video concludes with some harder times, like a woman being pulled away in a stretcher. Demi overdosed in 2018, though she went to a rehab facility and is now doing better. There is also a wedded couple in the street, meant to represent Demi's longtime boyfriend of six years getting married shortly after their break-up. As Demi says in the song, "I always got my finger on the self-destruct/ I wonder when I love me is enough."
