Disneyland Resort Donates Extra Food During Closure

Disneyland Resort is committed to making dreams come true and to keeping the planet safe. That's why, during this pandemic, they pledged to reduce food waste by donating food no longer usable by the park to local food banks.  Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure were temporarily closed in light of the pandemic, so they decided to honor the mighty mouse and spread some joy.

All the food was donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County in California. Those who rely on Second Harvest will receive dairy, some fruit, fresh vegetables, prepackaged goods, and full banquet meals that were no longer going to be used by the resort. The food bank has a mission to end hunger within the area. They've been dedicated to this for years.

The Disneyland Resort has operated a food donation program since 2014. Through this program, the unserved but still good food from select Disney locations is routinely given away to support the hungry in the local community. In addition, they also operate a well-meaning food scraps diversion program, which supports an environmental effort to cut down on food waste.

Over 20,000 meals were donated by Disneyland Resort last year. Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County was the recipient of all of them. Packed with volunteers from the Disney VoluntEARS program, they know that supporting a mission of ending hunger is a fight worth fighting.
