Englishman Proposes to Girlfriend In the Yummiest Way Possible

When life gives you a pandemic, you make... pizza?

27-year-old Walter Marano had big plans for his future with Sophia Florio, his partner of five years. Originally, he intended to propose to her on vacation in Italy, but their holiday was unfortunately canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead, Marano did his best to bring Italy to them.

Marano arranged a romantic meal in Fitzrovia, London, where the waiters presented Marano and his girlfriend with two heart-shaped pizzas, upon which were the words: "Will you marry me?"

Marano then extracted the ring from his pocket and presented it to Florio, who said yes and stood up to give him a kiss. The other diners cheered for the happy couple, overjoyed to witness true love during an otherwise bleak time.

"I love pizza—so it was the perfect proposal," Florio said. "It was a complete surprise. I had no idea it was coming... I can't wait to spend the rest o my life with Walter."

Florio hadn't suspected anything when Marano whisked her away to London for the weekend. To Florio, the restaurant was "beautiful and felt like we were actually in Italy."

"It was the best feeling ever," she said.

The two plan to tie the knot in Italy sometime during 2022.
