Gisele Bundchen Celebrates 40th Birthday By Planting 40,000 Trees

Gisele Bundchen, the supermodel married to football superstar Tom Brady, has made an unusual request for her birthday. Instead of asking for gifts or items, she's instead requested that her friends plant trees instead. She and Tom are both passionate about the environment and thought her special day would be the perfect time for a call to action.

Gisele, whose birthday falls on July 20th, posted an Instagram with herself, her husband, and their two children. Benjamin, 10, and Vivian, 7, booth appear in the photo of the family planting trees together.

"I feel like a whole new chapter of my life is starting, and I wanted to celebrate it in a meaningful way, so I decided to plant 40,000 trees," Gisele wrote in the post's caption, "I have been planting trees for different projects for years, as I feel that this is the best way I know to give back to Mother Earth."

"Then I had another thought, what if I could come up with a way for others to help me plant trees there?" she continued. "I’ve already talked to my family and my friends — and they will all turn their gifts into trees. That way, we can all help give something back to our planet."

The couple, who has been married since 2009, is eager to teach their children their core values for respecting the planet, especially during a global crisis. She hopes that by doing this, she will have helped to plant around 40,000 trees all over the world.
