Michael B. Jordan Named People's Sexiest Man Alive

Set to star in Tom Clancy's Without Remorse next, actor Michael B. Jordan has earned the highly coveted title of People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive. He was featured in People's first "One's To Watch" section in 2013 when he was just 26 years old thanks to his role in that year's Fruitvale Station. Of this year's honor, he said "It's a cool feeling. You know, everybody always made that joke, like, ‘Mike, this is the one thing you’re probably not going to get.' But it’s a good club to be a part of."

Jordan has showcased his versatility as an actor in roles like Creed's Adonis, Black Panther's villain Erik Killmonger, and even the sweet but troubled boyfriend in Parenthood. Not only is his acting repertoire extensive, but he also maintains a professional reputation outside of film. His company, Outlier Society Productions, is the first-ever to invoke an "inclusion rider," meaning a film must have a diverse cast and crew. He's also been vocal about the Black Lives Matter movement and the 2020 presidential election. "I think there’s a time and a place for everything," Jordan said. "I’ve been picking my moments to make the most impact. We can all take action—big or small—to help create the change we want to see."

Jordan was raised in Newark, New Jersey with his brother Khalid and sister Jamila, and he credits his family for being the thing that keeps him the most grounded in his career. "My mom and dad sacrificed so much to provide for my sister, brother and me," he said. "I'm just grateful. Honestly, it’s like they all have had such an impact on me and who I am and how I approach each day. Without that, a lot of things about me just wouldn’t be the same. So it all comes back to that foundation. I’m really thankful for that."
