Newlyweds Celebrate Among Philadelphia Protests

In Philadelphia, amidst protests concerning racial justice and police brutality, two newlyweds took to the streets to celebrate their union with the people.

Dr. Kerry-Anne Gordon and Michael Gordon were taking photographs on their wedding day and decided to join in on the protests happening in Logan Square. The resulting photo and video op was stunning.

They left the Logan Hotel and were greeted by tens of thousands of protestors in the streets. The powerful moment turned into an impromptu wedding party with protestors cheering for the newlyweds.

The photos and videos taken from that moment went viral almost immediately.

"Never in our wildest dreams did we think our love story would capture the hearts of so many people," Dr. Gordon wrote on Instagram after the wedding. "We are grateful to share our special day with such a pivotal moment in history, and we are honored to be a positive representation of Black Love and why Black Lives Matter."

Their wedding day also marked the 8th day of protesting in the Pennsylvania city.
