Sonic Launches Hard Seltzer Line Inspired by Slushes

Sonic is introducing hard seltzers just in time for warm weather.

The fast-food chain is working with COOP Ale Works, another Oklahoma City-based brand, to launch its first line of hard seltzer drinks. The seltzers will be offered in two different variety 12-packs—tropical- and citrus-flavored.

The tropical variety pack includes the flavors ocean water, orange pineapple, mango guava, and melon medley. The citrus variety pack features cherry limeade, classic lemonade, lemon berry, and original limeade.

Sonic is happy to be "digging into product innovation in such a big way," according to CMO Lori Abou Habib.

"We are close in Oklahoma City and longtime friends of Sonic personally at the brewery. At some point, the idea came to us to reach out to Sonic to collaborate. It was an easy conversation and the buy-in at all levels was quick," said COOP's director of sales and marketing, Sean Mossman. "These are looking at Sonic's iconic flavors in a whole new way in a hard seltzer format. We have high hopes and expectations and we're confident it's going to be a major player in the hard seltzer space."

Each seltzer will have 5% alcohol volume.
