A couple destined to be together finally get married and start their dream life. After blissfull years of marriage, they decide to try and have a baby. Things begin to go south for the couple, but their bizarre twist of fate will have you questioning how you view the world.
Where It Began
Their story began when 10-year-old Walt moved into the house across the street from Annie, who was just a baby at the time. The two families became very close friends and were very important to each other’s lives. The biggest aspect was that they attended the same church and went together every Sunday in their small Arkansas town. As Annie and Walt grew up, they mainly regarded each other as close family friends, despite their age difference. Annie always had a silly crush on Walt growing up as the older boy across the street…
The Age Gap
When Annie turned 18, she decided to go to college in the town over… Coincidentally, Walt had moved there in his post-grad years and was enjoying the last years of his 20’s there. Knowing she had moved there, he decided to show his old friend around town to get her more acclimated. He also showed her his church, where they soon began attending together. That’s when the two got closer and eventually shared their future dreams…
Planning for the Future
Annie knew that she wanted to be a mother. That was something that she had dreamed of since she was a little girl. Walt also wanted to be a father – it was one of his biggest dreams too. It didn’t take long for the two to fall in love, especially with their similar goals and values. The two felt that they were destined to each other, despite their age difference.
The Beginning of Their Story
After Annie graduated college, they decided to continue dating for a couple more years before getting married. They then wed in a beautiful church with all of their family and friends in attendance. After their wedding, they decided to travel to other countries and do some missionary work. They did that for a while before deciding to have children, as that was their ultimate goal but they had a while to accomplish it! What they didn’t realize is how hard that would actually be.
A New Plan
The couple never even imagined that they would have difficulties conceiving a child… They always assumed that God would bless them with their own baby as it was their dream! They tired for months and months with no luck. After a few years, it finally became the reality that they would not be able to have a baby on their own. Their relationship began to strain…
A Difficult Truth
They finally went to a doctor to figure out what the issue was. That’s when the doctor had to break the difficult news that they were not fertile enough for a baby. Walt admitted that this news rocked the foundation of his faith for a while… How could his dreams suddenly come crashing down like this? Annie decided that adoption was the best answer, but that would cause even more rifts in their marriage.
Their Friends Were Expecting
The two kept their marital issues to themselves and continued to work through their marriage. It got even harder when their friends began getting pregnant and having children of their own. The two had to feign happiness and swallow their sorrows as they congratulated their friends. This was truly testing their marriage and relationship with God.
Not in the Cards
Annie was crushed that she will never have a child of her own DNA, but she knew that adoption would be the best answer. What could be better than taking a child in that needed a home and a family? She started to believe that God gave her the need to be a mother, not for her own children, but someone else’s. Adoption had to be the answer. The problem? Walt just didn’t feel that way…
Talking to God
Walt knew in his heart that God was telling him that he would have a daughter of his own. It was something that had been on Walt’s mind ever since he was a teen. He talked to God a lot, even as a child playing outside alone. He always felt that his relationship with God was natural, so why was this happening? He was so angry that God filled his visions with his own daughter that he even had a name for, but he couldn’t get. Fortunately for Walt, he was wrong.
Meet Chloe
Walt recalls that when he was 10 or 12 years old, he experienced an extremely vivid vision of his future. He couldn’t explain it, but he knew that it was a message from God. In that vision, he saw himself in his parents’ front lawn, swinging a little girl around and laughing. She was dark skinned with dark hair, and her name was Chloe. He always knew that this was his daughter!
Sharing Their Names
This was a vision that plagued him for nearly his whole life! He knew in his heart and in his faith that this was his daughter. In fact, he had even old Annie about this before they were married. Before he could tell her the name he picked out, she said that she had a name, too! Annie even thought it was funny that Walt had a name picked out… She thought guys didn’t do that!
The Biggest Coincidence
Annie had told him that the name that she picked out… Was Chloe. Walt was shocked but excited. He knew that this was meant to be! This was a crazy coincidence that literally proved their fate. Now, they were stuck with the issue of not being able to conceive. Both of their biggest dreams were soon going out of reach… Would they ever have their Chloe?
Adoption?
Annie and Walt tried for a grueling four and a half years to conceive on their own. Annie was done, she knew that adoption was the answer. Walt, on the other hand, didn’t think that was the answer. He felt that it would not heal the wounds they felt, but just put a band-aid on top of them.
The Video Diary
The thought of adoption did not sit right with Walt, but he knew that Annie wanted this more than anything. Eventually, he was able to convince himself and trust Annie that she knew that this was the right move for them. They began a video diary of their road to adoption.
The Email
Their journey was a short one, as a prospective mother saw the video diaries and chose them because of their amazing personalities and attitudes. Annie got an email that was only titled, “It’s a Girl.” They were thrilled that they were finally on the road to their little girl! They knew that they needed to meet the mother as soon as possible, but they had no idea just how crazy it would get.
Meeting the Birth Mother
They decided that they weren’t going to name the baby Chloe as it didn’t fit Walt’s vision… Or so they thought. When they got to the home, the birth mother opened the door and Walt was physically shocked.
A Scene from His Vision
The birth mother introduced herself as Alison and welcomed them into her home. Walt was absolutely stunned. She looked just like the little girl Walt saw in his vision… It was a complete feeling of deja vu. It all came together! Walt knew that this baby was the Chloe from his vision. God knew exactly what he was doing. That wasn’t the most surprising thing…
God’s Work
When Alison began talking about herself and the baby, she dropped a bomb. Annie recalled, “She said, ever since I got pregnant, even before I knew it was a girl, I’ve been calling this baby Chloe. Both Walt and I, I don’t even remember what we did exactly, but I know that I was ugly crying.”
Excited For Chloe
This meeting immediately pushed all anxiety about adoption out of Walt’s mind. He said, “All those doubts about having a band-aid baby were completely out the window, I just had full body shivers and it was like the Holy Spirit was right there.” He knew that she was meant to be his daughter; she was the daughter of his dreams.
Waiting for Chloe
The two kept a wonderful relationship with the birth mother as they waited for their daughter to be born. Finally, her water broke! The day had come where they would meet their fated daughter. Walt and Annie were emotional as they realized that God’s plan for them was all coming together. They stayed close by as the birth mother went through the pains of labor and were there when she was finally born…

When Chloe was born, they knew that this was their baby. Annie remembered the day she was born, saying, “I remember just holding her and looking at her face and just being like ‘I’m your mom!’ It was so weird to say those words.”
Her Father
Walt knew that this was his daughter from the moment he saw her. He regretted losing his faith in God for the time of his indecision. Walt admitted to crying like a “baby” during the whole meeting.
The Happy Family
Their adoption of Chloe was so perfect that they decided to add another to their family! Naomi entered their lives a short time after Chloe did. They are now the picture-perfect family filled with tons of love. They wanted to share their story to show people that God always has a plan, and to have faith!
