The Armchair Expert podcast host and Parenthood actor revealed details about the terrifying motorcycle accident that left him with four broken ribs and will require surgery. The 45 year old injured himself while on a racetrack in California earlier this summer, and he admits that the mistake was completely his own fault. "I was passing six guys on Sonoma Raceway on a motorcycle and I was braking very, very hard — hard enough that the back wheel was off the ground for a good 100 yards," he recalled. "I was totally at blame. I thought I would be able to slide in between, but someone turned in and I was already under full brake and I couldn't go anywhere."
"I clipped their bumper and I went over the handlebars," he continued, "and I landed pretty hard." He also said the accident was "a little demoralizing" becuase it was his first time on the track and he was "thoroughly yelled at" by employees afterward. However, it didn't keep him off the bike. He iced his shoulder for about an hour and a half and then continued riding for two more sessions, despite the pain. He went to the emergency room the following day.
"I've been at the hospital for seven hours today," he'd posted. "The final tally was four broken ribs, the clavicle's broken in three places, and I need surgery." He also re-injured one of four fingers he'd broken a few months prior, which was "the good news" of the whole ordeal. Though he "might be able to quit [motorcyles] for the remainder of 2020," he won't be permanently getting off the bike any time soon.
