Neil Patrick Harris might win the parent of the year award—at least, in the eyes of his kids.
This past Tuesday, the 47-year-old actor revealed that he and his husband, David Burtka, welcome a new Golden Retriever puppy named Ella into their family. Needless to say, their 10-year-old twins Harper and Gideon were over the moon.
Harris posted a photo of himself and his children in matching holiday-themed onesies posing with their adorable new fur-ever friend.
"Oh Santa, what have you done??" he wrote beneath it. "On Christmas morning, @dbelicious and I watched Gideon and Harper open a box filled with... a golden retriever puppy. Her name is Ella, and she has pretty much taken over our lives."
"She's curious, clumsy, and sublime. Except for when she's peeing everywhere. Or gnawing on everything. Which is always. Methinks we need some training. But first, I must go cuddle. Thanks, Santa. You rule. #grateful," he concluded.
Many other celebrities congratulated the How I Met Your Mother star on Ella's arrival. Good Girls actress Christina Hendricks said, "Are you kidding me????? So sweet. Congrats!"
The little lady must learn to cohabitate with Harris's other dogs, two rescue mutts named Gidget and Spike.
"Having these sweet dogs that are able to cuddle with you and give you unconditional love is important," said Harris when opening up about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected his life.
