The Most Irresistible (and Least Healthy) Menu Options at Popular Restaurants

It’s always important to treat yourself to something unhealthy once in a while, and eating triple your daily recommended amount of sodium never felt so good.

P.F. Changs

While walnut shrimp with melon sounds fairly healthy, but alas, it is not. The chefs at P.F. Chang’s fry and drown the shrimp in a sweet, sticky sauce, with candied walnuts, and sweet melon balls, topping out at 50g of sugar per serving. This meal totals at 1,340 calories per serving.

Ruby Tuesday

Eating a burger once in a while is just fine, but eating anything called the “Colossal Burger” might just put you in an early grave. This mock Big Mac has two patties, three buns, and is smothered in Monterey Jack and America cheese. This behemoth has 1,697 calories, and 4,171mg of sodium.

Olive Garden

The OG has never been known for serving up “lite” options, and the chicken and shrimp carbonara is no exception. The pasta in this dish alone holds 976 of the 1,390 calories. This dish, plus salty salad and breadsticks, could very well put you out for the next few days.

Longhorn Steakhouse

The gold medal for the least healthy dish at Longhorn Steakhouse goes to… The cheesy BPT! This monster melt clocks in at 1,530 calories, with one giant breaded fried green tomato, a mountain of pimento cheese, and too many slices of bacon, this is a once in a lifetime treat. To top it off, this sammy is served with fries on the side.

Taco Bell

Although Taco Bell is considered to be the healthiest fast food on the market, it does have one singular gut buster. The XXL Stuft Burrito with ground beef has 870 calories, 40g of fat, 2,100mg of sodium, and will 100% ruin your afternoon.

McDonald’s

This one is a curveball since this dish is probably infrequently ordered, but the Big Breakfast with Hotcakes is a lethal combo of pancakes, sausage, eggs, a hashbrown, and a biscuit. The 1,350 calories in this crazy plate are twice as many than you would burn while running a 10k race.

Red Lobster

Red Lobster’s crab linguine alfredo just might be the single most unhealthy dish on any chain restaurant menu in America. Packed with 1,910 calories worth of crab meat, pasta, and parmesan cream sauce, this dish will shock your body into a submissive state.

Burger King

The Bacon King Sandwich sounds like a royal threat from the beginning, but after you see the half-pound of beef and eight strips of bacon, you won’t even want to know how many calories it has. (1,150 calories to be specific).

Auntie Anne’s

The Jumbo Jalapeno Cheese Pretzel Dog is a fever dream personified in hot dog form. This cheesy pretzel-wrapped doggie only has 650 calories, so you might want to get two and then sit in your car writhing in pain until you can drive back home.

Hooters

The Philly chicken cheesesteak has plenty of veggies in it to offset the fatty, cheesy nature of this dish. Don’t get fooled, this sando has 1,500 calories, and is barely enough to make anyone comfortably full.

Waffle House

In a restaurant packed with poor nutritional food, Waffle House has one particular dish that stands above the rest. Papa Joe’s pork chop platter comes with two giant pork chops, grits, texas toast, three eggs, and a team of EMT’s to make sure you don’t have a heart attack while you eat.

Little Caesars

The 3 meat treat pie at Little Caesars just might end your entire carry-out career. Covered in pepperoni, Italian sausage, and bacon, this 3,370 calorie bomb will leave you hot and ready for a nap.

KFC

Oddly enough, the chain famous for fried chicken’s least healthy menu item doesn’t even have fried chicken in it! The chicken pot pie at KFC is (based on concentration) is the heaviest caloric menu item due to the cream sauce and buttery crust.

Buffalo Wild Wings

There we are, finally a chicken place where the chicken is the least healthy. The 20-piece platter of Asian Zing boneless wings delivers 2,380 calories straight to the gut.

California Pizza Kitchen

CPK has built a reputation of being a fairly healthy pizza restaurant, but somehow the Jamaican jerk chicken pizza slipped through the cracks. At 1,320 calories (which isn’t even the scary part) and more sodium than 22 strips of bacon, you might want to avoid this pie.

Chili’s

The fact that these are marketed as a “single-serving dish” is basically a war crime. These little monsters have 2,510 calories total, and nearly three times the daily recommended dose of saturated fat recommended by the American Heart Association.

IHOP

No pancakes here, IHOP serves an appetizer sampler that will most certainly take years off of your life. Loaded with chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, crispy onion rings, and ranch dressing, this whole pile adds up to 1,590 calories, and enough sodium to kill an elephant.

Maggiano’s

Prior to contrary belief, gnocchi and sausage in an insanely rich sauce aren’t the slightest bit Italian. Clocking in at 1,540 calories and 5,180 mg of sodium, one bite of this dish will bring on the bloat. To avoid getting gout, bypass this dish.

Cracker Barrel

At least this dish comes with broccoli, the Sunday homestyle chicken and mashed potatoes should require you to sign a waiver. Blasting off at 1,750 calories total, you can split this dish with everyone at your table and still be above your daily sodium allowance.

Chipotle

Chipotle is considered to be the healthiest of the new wave of “fast-casual” restaurants popping up all over the world. However, if you pack carnitas, white rice, black beans, cheese, sour cream, queso, and guacamole into one burrito, you’ve got yourself a gut buster that will put you 1,520 calories in the hole.

TGI Friday’s

There’s nothing quite like ruining your weekend by eating a 1,630 calorie full rack of ribs. Although they are glazed with the famous TGI Friday’s whiskey BBQ sauce, you should split this dish with five of your closest friends.

Denny’s

The cinnamon roll pancakes at Denny’s are completely insane. 1,810 calories of pure sugar, this is a once in a lifetime type meal.

Cheesecake Factory

This gnarly dish isn’t even the most unhealthy thing on the CF menu. The pasta carbonara with chicken is 2,340 calories and its one of the least authentic Italian dishes available in chains worldwide.

Applebee’s

Fish and chips? Isn’t fish supposed to be healthy? For some reason, Applebee’s has devised a way to make three four-ounce pieces of fish and a handful of fries 1,750 calories. The only question we’re asking here is, why?

Wendy’s

Dave’s triple isn’t displayed on the menu, and for good reason. This burger is literally 85% beef, 10% cheese, and 5% mayonnaise. It’s also 1,090 calories.

Sonic

The first beverage on this list tops out at 1,430 calories and 119g of sugar. Instead of drinking a large oreo chocolate shake, you can actually just eat 59.5 packets of sugar.

Popeye’s

The shrimp po-boy at Popeye’s has more saturated fat than two whole spicy chicken sandwiches. Clocking in at 666 calories, you genuinely shouldn’t eat this more than once a month.

Carl’s Junior

The 1/2 pound guacamole bacon Thickburger is something that you might just want to avoid altogether. Don’t let the “healthy” avocado fool you, this 1,200 calorie sandwich will give you the stomach ache of a lifetime.

Panera

Although the mac and cheese is a calorie bomb, the steak and white cheddar panini takes the cake. Busting in at 880 calories, NO fiber, and plenty of mayonnaise, avoiding this would be best for your health.

Sbarro

The thin-crust Roman-style meat primo pizza from Sbarro was meant to be shared. That being said, at 4,610 calories in the whole pie, maybe you should opt for something with a little less meat.

Einstein Bros

Chorizo, pimento cheese, two eggs, pepper jack, guacamole, all served up on a cheddar jalapeno bagel is the breakfast that can fill you up until the next day. 920 calories of mostly cheese should steer you away.

Smashburger

There’s something about chocolate shakes with Oreos in them that just cranks up the calorie level to 11. At 950 calories, slightly less than the Sonic version, this shake has more than three times your recommended sugar intake.

Noodles and Company

This unappetizing dish is just as bad as it looks. Alfredo Montamore is just an excuse to put a few tomatoes and mushrooms in a big bowl of buttercream sauce. One plate of this dish is 1,410 calories in total, yikes.

Corner Bakery Cafe

The pancakes breakfast at the Corner Bakery is the best selling menu item they have. Three pancakes, three eggs, and three strips of bacon for only $4.99 is a steal, however, they’re stealing your life away. This simple brekkie is 1,010 calories and has 57g of sugar.

Bojangles’

The roasted chicken rice bowl sounds like it would be a healthier alternative to regular fried chicken, but oh it’s much worse. At 1,130 calories, and nearly 5,000mg of sodium, which is the amount of sodium in 14 orders of large fries from McDonald’s.

Johnny Rockets

We all love Johnny Rockets, but they took it a step too far with the bacon double cheddar burger. This recipe for a salt-belly is 1,770 calories, not even including the fries.

Quiznos

Oddly enough, the 12-inch Italian sub is by far the least healthy item on the Quiznos item. This 1,400 calorie disaster will eviscerate your lower intestine effortlessly.

A&W

The cheese curds (yes this is real) at A&W pack a wallop of 1,140 calories per serving, and you don’t have to be a resident of the midwest to enjoy this special treat.

Steak ‘n Shake

The country skillet probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you go to Steak ‘n Shake, which is good because this dish is 1,240 calories and has enough salt to put you in the hospital.

BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse

This sandwich has brisket, and a burger patty, which is a recipe for disaster if you ask me. At 1,700 calories a pop, chances are you’ll be spending the rest of the night in the bathroom.

Checkers

It’s crazy to think that what might seem like a healthy alternative to traditional buffalo wings, is actually nearly three times as unhealthy. 1,010 calories per FIVE WINGS will leave you scratching your head and rubbing your stomach.

Perkins

The double catch at Perkins doesn’t seem too unhealthy, but as we have learned earlier, fried fish can be a sleeper calorie bomb. At 1,330 calories a pop, fried shrimp and cod never seemed so scary.

Shoney’s

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that you shouldn’t eat a chicken fried steak covered in white gravy. Even if it’s served with broccoli and carrots, the whole dish is 1,110 calories.

Rally’s

Anything named “Baconzilla” should set off a few red flags. This 910 calorie burger is no good, outside of the flavor.

Huddle House

We have no clue how 16g of sugar got into this chili burger, but we’re steering clear from this monstrosity. 950 calories in one sandwich is nothing to shake a stick at.

Church’s Chicken

A fried chicken breast covered in white gravy? Nice. 810 calories and 55g of fat? Gross!!!

White Castle

This is the first hashbrown hate in this list, but when they come in a 1,440 calorie “sack,” they deserve it.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop

This ice cream sandwich lives up to its creator’s title. The Potbelly ice cream sandwich has 1,240 calories and 96g of sugar, but its all good stuff.

El Pollo Loco

It’s always best to make guac at home because if you get it from El Pollo Loco, you can end up inhaling 1,260 calories of the green stuff.

Dairy Queen

The honey hot chicken basket at DQ will run you nearly twice as many calories deep as a medium-sized blizzard. At 1,580 calories, stick to the ice cream.

Zaxby’s

As much as we’d hate to admit it, Zaxby’s is insanely unhealthy. The buffalo chicken platter is 1,670 calories, but mostly from the fries and buttered Texas toast.

Wingstop

Are fries the least healthy thing on the Wingstop menu? Oddly, yes. The Louisiana Voodoo fries are practically made of ranch dressing, and they are wholly 910 calories.

Tim Hortons

Stick to the black coffee and donuts, the bagel sandwiches at Tim Hortons are all grease bombs, especially the Italiano bagel sandwich. Topped with way too much pepperoni and ham, this big dog has 640 calories, and 2,320mg of sodium.

Qdoba

A brisket quesadilla already sounds like a rough idea, but this specific one from Qdoba has 1,270 calories and will likely leave you unable to consume anything else for the next week or so.

Whataburger

We do not tolerate Whataburger hate in this family, but you need to admit that it’s overwhelmingly unhealthy compared to other fast food joints. The chophouse cheddar burger, for instance, has 1,110 calories and four strips of bacon.

Boston Market

Virtually everything is unhealthy at the Boston Market. However, the unhealthiest thing you can eat there are the smoked pork ribs. Half a rack is 1,360 calories.

Jack in the Box

The bacon and swiss buttery Jack sounds exactly like what it is, a buttery roll covered in beef juice and a ton of cheese. Oh, its also 887 calories.

Papa John’s

Big Papa is back at it again with the big bad pizzas. Pepperoni, sausage, and SIX KINDS OF CHEESE add up to 410 calories a SLICE, which is now the highest contender for the most unhealthy pizza in the world.

Arby’s

Wow, this feels crazy, but the most unhealthy menu item at Arby’s is a TURKEY sandwich. Turkey bacon and ranch to be specific. 800 calories of nasty grease holds this sandwich together.

Outback Steakhouse

Tragically, the Bloomin Onion is significantly unhealthy. In total, our favorite battered onion racks up 1,950 calories and 3,840 mg of sodium.
