Real Pet Food Company offers an array of food options for dogs, including chilled, dry, and wet products. They emphasize their use of high-quality ingredients, but there was one particular brand in question for this recall. According to the company, they had to take the Billy+Margot Wild Kangaroo and Superfoods Recipe 4lb bags off shelves. Salmonella is just as dangerous for pets as it is for humans.
Symptoms of Salmonella in dogs include diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and stomach pain. The infection can be spread to humans through saliva or if a person has handled the food and not properly sanitized their hands afterward. Though adults can generally recover, children, the elderly, and pets have a harder time bouncing back and can develop even more severe symptoms.
