This Family-Style Restaurant Has No Prices and Feeds Any Customer

In one small Alabama town, one restuarant puts the soul in soul food. Called Drexell & Honeybee’s near the Florida border, the downtown Brewton restaurant menu changes every day, but guests can count on a delicious meal. Usually they employ southern hospitality style of cooking: fried chicken, cornbread, and other classic favorites for the menu. The reason people come from far and wide is not because of the food though, it's the prices. There are none!

At their restaurant no one goes home hungry because they can't afford to eat. After a full meal, it's up to the customer to pay whatever they feel is necessary, or whatever they had. Sometimes that's not much more than a "thank-you for the kindness." Freddie and Lisa Thomas-McMillan take absolutely no profits from the venture. As they put it, "with a full stomach, a full heart, and the understanding that you are loved and worthy of love."

Lisa has done it all in this town, including running a food bank, opened her home to the needy, and now feeding the hungry.  "Feed the Need' is our mission statement," Lisa told a news outlet, "Whatever needs people have, if we can help them… we will." The pandemic gave them a bit of trouble, but they know people need the service now more than ever. Drexell and Honeybee's is here for the people, no matter what.
