Trader Joe's Stores Nationwide Have Recalled 4,000 Pounds of Frozen Fish

Certain batches of Trader Joe's Battered Halibut have been recalled due to undeclared wheat and milk allergens. The recall has affected stores across 19 states after the supplier notified the supermarket chain that the packaging did not include an allergen label. The only product affected is the Trader Joe's Gluten-Free Battered Halibut (SKU# 50382) with the code 537312620 BEST IF USED BY NOV/05/2021 C.

States affected include Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, and Wisconsin. The FDA estimates that there are 4,450 pounds of fish affected by the allergen recall, and if people with wheat or milk allergies ingest the fish, they could potentially suffer life-threatening reactions.

No illnesses have been reported due to the recall, and all affected products have been removed from the Trader Joe's stores in question and destroyed. Trader Joe's has advised customers with this allergy to check the packaging on their products if they have purchased any halibut recently. Otherwise, a new round of shipments will be hitting stores soon with the proper allergen warnings.
