Are the Olympics Likely to be Canceled Due to Coronavirus?

Due to the rapidly growing outbreak of Coronavirus, several sporting events nationwide have been canceled or postponed. The likelihood of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics being postponed or canceled has started to be discussed, considering the outbreak began in Asian countries.

Other sporting events that are in talks of a schedule change are: Six Nations, Euro 2020, Premier League and domestic football, and Formula One races.

Though most events that are undergoing observation are based in China and Japan, it's only a matter of time before these same procedures make their way to the US. The first case of Coronavirus in the United States was reported in California earlier this week, with an estimated 8,000 people who are possibly infected.

The United States has yet to officially address a plan of action regarding treatment or prevention of Coronavirus, but it's likely that athletes will not be sent overseas to participate in these large-scale events just yet.
