The Mystery Behind a 28 Million Year Old Skeleton

In 1810, an English fleet took over the island of Guadeloupe, which was owned by France at the time.

With that, they were able to get their hands on a bunch of different treasures. Among those treasures as a limestone slab with a skeleton embedded into it.

They were able to determine that the limestone itself was about 28 million years old.

In 1812, the skeleton was brought to a museum in England to try and figure out just what was going on with this weird piece of history.

Karl Koenig was the scientist put in charge of the skeleton. He faced a lot of problems when it came to dating it. He could tell that it was a modern skeleton, but it was bizarre to find it so deep in the limestone… He had to throw in the towel: He had no idea how old it was.

Since then, scientists everywhere have been intrigued by the weirdness of this skeleton!

By the end of the 1800s, the skeleton was part of a permanent collection in the museum that it was initially brought to. It brought a lot of intrigue from all over the world for years, until 2006, when it was secretly put away…

Some believe that since creationists claimed the skeleton was proof of their beliefs about ancient humans, the government wanted to hide it from the community.

Since then, no one has undergone a thorough investigation of the skeleton. Even with modern technology, more answers could be revealed if the British government let them…

The “accepted” theory is that the skeleton is from the 15th century AD. The woman must have fallen into the limestone after an earthquake left a large crack in the surface.

At this point, it’s totally up in the air. The weirdness of the people surrounding the skeleton really makes people think that this skeleton could be proof of ancient humans…
