NBA Encourages Fist Bumps Over High Fives During Coronavirus Outbreak

The NBA's latest memo regarding the coronavirus advises players to limit physical contact with fans, no high-fives and emphasizes the virus's propensity to spread. “The coronavirus remains a situation with the potential to change rapidly,” the memo reportedly reads.

While not much is known about the virus besides the symptoms and its ability to spread quickly, the biggest risk players face is the constant physical contact with fans. While fist bumps are encouraged over handshakes and high-fives, players are also discouraged from handling things like pens and basketballs when signing autographs.

Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum has already implemented many of these tips:

"The Corona Virus has officially hit Oregon. More specifically, Lake Oswego... Make sure y'all washing your hands with soap for 20 or more seconds and covering ya mouths when you cough. I am officially taking a break from signing autographs until further notice. Sincerely, CJ."
