Rare Lobster Saved By Red Lobster Employee

Thanks to restaurant workers in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, the life of a rare labster will be living out it's days in an aquiarium, not steamed on someone's dinner plate. While they were preparing for another busy night of serving tables, the restaurant employees noticed somethiing was different about one of the lobsters in their tank...it was dark blue! they thought it might be ill, but decided to research it just in case.

After researching the animal (who was cleverly named Clawde) they learned that he wasn't sick, but one of very few blue lobsters in existence. One in every two million has the discoloration. The crustacean was then shipped to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, who then asked the Akron Zoo if they needed one. The Ohio zoo eagerly accepted him and began creating his new home.

"Clawde is acclimating to his new home at the Akron Zoo, in a special tank that has been dubbed ‘Clawde’s Man Cave’ by his care team." said the team currently caring for the rare species. Two days later, they revealed that Clawde was actually a girl and renamed her Clawdia. Over the next few months, she will begin shedding her skin in what is called "molt" and will have a whole zoo there to help.
